Reunion Film Commission Reunion is an island, French colony in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, about 120 mi (200 km) southwest of Mauritius, the nearest island. Area: 969.9 sq mi (2,512 sq km), population: roughly 827,000. The island was discovered and developed by Arabs about 2,000 years ago. They named it Adna Al-Maghribain.
